Installation

Run the installation setup executable that you can find on the product page.

Affinity.exe

You can run Affinity.exe from the start menu after the installation.
Affinity is a tray icon application (as you can see in the image below) that will communicate with your engine.

When right mouse click on the icon, you will bring up a menu like on the image below:

Exit: Exit the icon tray application.

Log window: This pops up a window containing logs from the engine and from your tray icon application (Affinity.exe)

Hint: When this menu turns red, it means there are errors for you to read.

Global Settings: Let you change default configuration for the application, more on this later.

Market Connectivities List: List all market connectivity plug ins that the engine has loaded. You will need to activate a market connectivity module to watch quotation. More on this later.

Hide All/Unhide All: This will allow you to hide or display your floating windows for quotation.

Hint: You can double click on the Affinity tray icon to toggle hide/unhide.

Enter instrument text field: The text box circled red on the picture above is the place to enter query for instruments. Enter the name and the instrument you want to query the engine with and press enter. If the instrument exists, the other menu (Instrument List will turn red, signaling you have a new instrument in your list). For query to return instruments, you must make sure that you have your market connectivity plugin activated.

Instrument List: This is where you can select instruments to be displayed or not, more on this later.

Step 1: Make sure you have a market connectivity loaded

Check the Market Connectivity List menu to see if you have market in a ready state (green dot).

A white dot next to the name means that the plug in is loaded but not activated yet (e.g. needs a login/pass).

A green dot means that the market is ready to receive query and send back quotation live.

A red dot means that the market could not load for any reason, check the Log Window for more information.

To activate a market connectivity, simply navigate in the menu and click on the name of the market connectivity to bring the market connectivity parameters:

Fill the required information and hit Connect.

Wait a bit, then verify the dot has turned green by opening the Market Connectivity List menu (the menu text should have turned red, indicating a change of status of one or many market connectivity plug ins).

Step 2: Query Instruments and display floating windows on your desktop

Once your market connectivity is loaded, you can query instruments. The query needs to be in the format that the market connectivity understands. For example, you can query ESZ9.CME for the mini s&p december future for ZenFire.

Once the instrument is loaded, it will be added to the instrument list.

Note that all market connectivity modules will be queried. You can check the Log Window for more information if your query didn’t create a new instrument.

Once your instrument is loaded, it will apprear in the list of instrument, in the Instrument List menu.

To display a floating window of this instrument (image below) and to register to updates for this instrument, click on the name.

From now on, the text will update as the instrument bid and ask change. This window has top-most property so it can be visible at any time on your desktop.

Note that instruments not displayed won’t consume bandwidth as only the one displayed receive network updates.

You can move this window around by using clicking on the window with your left mouse button and dragging the window around.

To bring up the context menu, right click on that window.

Depth of Market is available by selecting Market depth menu.

Snapshot price will store the current value for bid and ask for macro usage (more on this later)

The market depth shows the current quantity in the market for prices above and under the bid/ask (including the bid/ask). You may bring up the context menu and type a minimum display value.

Global settings to come…
